Almeda Elnora (Crane) Reames

Almeda Elnora (Crane) Reames , age 88, of Orange City, Florida (formerly of Pinckneyville, Illinois) passed away Nov. 9, 2014 at Florida Memorial Hospice.

Almeda was born Nov. 17, 1925 in Tamaroa, Illinois to Arbie and Sophia (Fisher) Crane. Almeda lived in and attended grades 1-10 in Tamaroa. She completed the last two years of high school at Pinckneyville Community High School. She earned a three-year Registered Nursing degree in East St. Louis Illinois.

It was in East St. Louis that she met her future husband, Norman W. Reames. They were married June 23, 1948. They resided in Illinois where they raised two children. They retired to Florida in 1982.

She is survived by her two children Norman (Ruth Ann) Reames Jr. of Marion, Illinois and Carolyn (Dan) Yanda of Elkader, Iowa; grandchildren Joseph Reames of Glen Carbon, Illinois, James (Tina) Reames of Carbondale, Illinois, Danielle (Thomas) Rutkowski of Atkins, Iowa, Aubrey Yanda of San Francisco, California and Tyler Yanda of Mumbai, India and four great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arbie and Sophia; her husband Norman; her sister Pernie Hensley and two grandchildren, Jeri Reames and John Reames.

Almeda dedicated her life to helping others, working as a Registered Nurse for 30+ years. She also was an active and devoted member of Volusia County Baptist Church where she served in multiple ways, helping in the nursery, teaching Bible School, cleaning and in any way she could. She also visited residents of and called bingo for Horizon Bay.

Her favorite hobby was playing cards and games of all sorts. She dearly loved hosting card parties for her friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Volusia County Baptist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, Orange City, Fla. Dates and times are pending.
