BOYS BASKETBALL: Harrisburg dominates Du Quoin, 74-52

Harrisburg was able to snap a two-game losing skid by picking up a convincing 74-52 non-conference win over Du Quoin Saturday night at Davenport Gym.

The Bulldogs were able to pull away with a big second quarter in which they limited Du Quoin (4-4) to a lone field goal‎ and led 38-19 at the break. The 20-6 period for Harrisburg included a 13-0 run.

Every player who dressed for HHS (6-3) got in the scoring column, including senior Bahari Amaya who paced the club with 18 points.

Corbin Crim-Harbison was also in double figures with 16 points. Freshman Isaiah Saulsberry netted eight and junior Anfernee Houston scored seven.

For the Indians, Jarred Thomas led the way with 18 points. Brock Bullar (12), Caleb Vogel (7), A.J. Smith (5), Levi Brening (4) and Tucker Kuhnert (4) also scored for Du Quoin.

The Indians (4-4, 0-2) will head back to Pinckneyville on Friday to begin play in the 2014 Duster Thomas Hoops Classic, a two-day, twelve-team tournament. Du Quoin begins pool play on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. against Wesclin (Trenton), then meets two-time defending tournament champion Jersey at 7:00 p.m.
