James E. Griffith

James E. Griffith, 84, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 at his residence.

James was a retired wholesale drug salesman. He was of the Baptist faith. James had been a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was born Sept. 6, 1930 at Pulaski, Ill., the son of Rollie and Hazel (Rives) Griffith.

He married Jean Rushing on Oct. 7, 1951 at Mound City, Ill. and she preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 1978. He then married Mary Kathleen McClanahan on Jan. 18, 2006 at Gatlinburg, Tenn. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one son - Bruce Wayne Griffith and wife Denise K. of Marion, Ill., one daughter - Babette Frederking and husband Ben of Okawville, Ill., four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Tim Ozment officiating.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the Army National Guard.

Friends may make memorials to Southern Illinois Hospice or the Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
