Wallace H. Humphress

Wallace H. Humphress, age 89, of Swanwick, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014 at 12:25 p.m. in his home.

Wallace was born on Oct.13, 1925 in Campbellsville, Ky., a son to Omer and Nellie (Hamilton) Humphress. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Wallace had worked as a sheet metal fabricator for Local 268, Caseyville, Ill. He married Mary Katherine Serra and she preceded him in death on June 13, 1991. He attended Willow Glen Worship Center, Pinckneyville, Ill., and was a member of the Shriner's, Mason's, V.F.W., Moose, Eagles, American Legion, Local 268, National Association of the U.S.S. LC-5, was a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, boating, tinkering, was a jack of all trades and a collector of fine arts.

Survivors include his special friend, Wickie Courtney of Pinckneyville, Ill.; three sons, Howard Humphress of Canton, Ohio, Wallace (Peggy) Humphress of Campbellsville, Ky. and Joe North of Florence, Ky.; eight daughters, Doris (Dave) Williams of Florence, Ky., Joyce Perry of Corbin, Ky., Bobbie Lou North of Indianapolis, Ind., Marcene Feltmeyer of Pinckneyville, Ill., Sandy Barr of Pinckneyville, Ill., Suzie Heiple of Lenoir City, Tenn., Carmen Humphress of Cincinnati, Ohio and Kristy (Bob) Atwater of Albers, Ill.; two sisters, Nancy Dixon of Kinfley, Ky. and Karen (Eugene) Overstreet of Pioneer, Calif.; three brothers, Bob Humphress of Cincinnati, Ohio, Billy Humphress of Campbellsville, Ky. and Alan Humphress of Campbellsville, Ky.; 31 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Katherine Humphress; a daughter, Faith Forrer; a granddaughter, Amanda Showalter; a grandson, Demetric Heiple; three brothers, Llyn Humphress, Louis Humphress and Omer Humphress and three sisters, Mornia Eastridge, Dell Wade and Kathrine Humphress.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Jerry Ross officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Masonic and Shriner's rites at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
