Shirley May Williams

Shirley May Williams, age 83, of Pinckneyville, Ill., was called to her heavenly home on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. in her daughter's home in Ft. Worth, Tex.

Shirley was born on May 9, 1931 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a daughter to Henry and Julia (Verman) Taylor. On April 12, 1952, she married Jack Williams in Pinckneyville, Ill. and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2001. Shirley worked as a Finance Advisor for Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, Ill., and was a member at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. Shirley loved to entertain her friends and family and enjoyed decorating her house for the holidays. She lead a very active lifestyle including card clubs, was an excellent golfer and a member of a swimming group called the Swimming Women. Shirley was a big part of organizing all of her class reunions, loved to watch golf and NBA basketball on television.

Survivors include her son, Rick Williams of Pinckneyville, Ill.; daughter, Sheila Williams of Ft. Worth, Tex.; granddaughter, Alayna Hermanny of Pinckneyville, Ill. ; great-granddaughter, Ciara Hermanny of Pinckneyville, Ill. and three sisters, Gloria (Roger) Thies of Benton, Ky., Elsie Logan of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Ruth (Gig) Shute of Pinckneyville, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Floyd Taylor in infancy and John Taylor; one sister, Fern Walker and one brother-in-law, Jack Logan.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. Jay Lowder officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children's Hospital.
