Betty June Hasty

Betty June Hasty, 81, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Betty had worked at Blue Bell Packing, Joliet Arsenal, Forrest City Garment Company, as a waitress at Southern Bar-B-Que and as a school bus driver. She was of the Catholic faith.

She was born June 10, 1933 at Pinckneyville, Ill., the daughter of Henry William and Estella Chloe (Siegel) Gerstenschlager.

She married Tom Hasty on May 23, 1970 at Joliet, Ill. and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, nine grandchildren - Bill Queen Jr., Tom Queen, Chandra Queen, Chris Brooks, Julia Unterreiner, Mikie Unterreiner, Wayne Harris Jr., Amanda Eggmeyer and Ashley Leeper and 19 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons - Paul Queen and William E. Queen Sr., one stepson - Chris Brooks, one great granddaughter - Mieka Queen and three brothers - Albert, William and Harold.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Gerstenschlager Cemetery at Pinckneyville.

Friends may make memorials to Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center Activity Fund or Celtic Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
