Donald Gulley

Donald "Dugan" Gulley, 63, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 in his home surrounded by loved ones.

Don was born Jan. 30, 1951 in Anna, Ill., a son to Glenn "Bally" and Wanda (Shaffer) Gulley. On Feb. 5, 1972, he married Nancy "Joie" Craig in Karnak, Ill. and she survives. Don graduated from SIU Carbondale School of Mortuary Science in 1972. He devoted his professional career of 40 years to serving bereaved families as a kind, caring and compassionate funeral director. He retired from Best Funeral Services, Peoria, Arizona, in 2012. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Don enjoyed watching all sports, especially those involving his grandchildren, as well as traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Joie Gulley; mother, Wanda Gulley; two sons, Drew Gulley and Joe (Amber) Gulley; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Autumn, Shaun and Sam Gulley, all of Pinckneyville, Ill.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Mary Ann Badgley of Steeleville, Ill., Clarence and Phyllis Manker of Manteno, Ill., along with numerous beloved aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Gulley; maternal grandparents, Oscar and Coba Elizabeth Shaffer, paternal grandparents, Jess W. and Dossie Goodman Gulley and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joe and Virginia Craig.

A memorial service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill., on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Don Badgley officiating.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill., on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
