GIRLS BASKETBALL: EHS fights back, but falls short against Gallatin County

Elverado fought back to within five in the fourth quarter after trailing by a dozen after three, but Gallatin County was able to hold on for a 53-48 victory in Elkville as the Lady Falcons missed their last five free throw attempts in the closing moments of the game.

EHS was just 10-for-22 at the line in the second half, which hindered their ability to stage a comeback. Gallatin County held leads of 19-11 after one, 29-25 at the break, and 47-35 heading into the final period.

Cheyenne Abbadusky led Elverado with a game-high 21 points and was joined in double figures by Brooke Whittington with 10. Hope Porter (5), Emma Bigham (4), Kylee Bedar (4), Kaitlin Lively (2) and Tori Ehlers (2) also scored for the Lady Falcons.

Elverado (4-13, 2-1) is at Shawnee on Thursday night, then returns home for three games next week - vs. Egyptian (January 19), Marissa (January 21) and Joppa (January 22).
