Irene M. Schwartzkopf

Irene M. Schwartzkopf, 87, of Du Bois, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 at the Friendship Manor Healthcare in Nashville, Ill.

Irene had been a homemaker and a cook at the Pinckneyville Hospital. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois.

She was born April 25, 1927 at Washington County, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Waldman) Nehrkorn.

She married Orval Schwartzkopf on June 23, 1945 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1977.

She is survived by one son - David Schwartzkopf of Du Bois, Ill., seven grandchildren - Jeremy, Amy, Shannon, Chuck, Kim, Ryne and Shaina and her friend - Brenda.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter - Betty Knapp, one granddaughter - Sherry Knapp and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Fr. Bernard C. Goedde Jr. officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery at Du Bois.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to Heartland Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
