Dorothy L. Smith

Dorothy L. Smith, 86, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:34 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Dorothy had been an LPN and had worked with Home Health Care. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was born April 24, 1928 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of James Isaac and Esther (Pugh) Purcell.

She married James Clark Daffron and he preceded her in death. She then married Dewey Smith and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons - Brad Daffron and Crystal of Du Quoin and Pete Daffron and Mary Jo of Bakersfield, Calif., eight grandchildren - Cole Daffron, Carlie Daffron, Jodi Bonas, Jana Sitton, Scott Daffron, Justin Daffron, Brian Daffron and Jared Daffron and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son - Jimmy L. Daffron, two brothers - Chick Purcell and June Purcell and two sisters - Anna Mae Hall and Doris Williams.

Per Mrs. Smith's request, cremation services were held. There will be no public visitation or funeral service.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin at a later date.

Friends may make memorials to the Du Quoin Food Pantry and will be accepted at the funeral home.
