WRESTLING: Jones wins Regional, three other Panthers advance

Four Panthers medaled and Pinckneyville senior Richard Jones is a Regional champion after winning Saturday's IHSA Class A Wrestling Regional at Carterville, defeating Murphysboro's Dalton Craig by pin to finish first in the 182-lb. division.

With 57 points, the Panthers were seventh of the ten teams the Carterville Regional, which was won by Murphysboro with 202 points. West Frankfort (143) was second, Harrisburg (124.5) third.

Jones will not be the only Panther advancing to this Saturday's Sectional in Vandalia, as Tyler Eggemeyer finished third at the 138-lb. level and earned the right to move on. Pinckneyville's Grant Murphy (152 lbs.) and Gabe Stroehlein (170 lbs.) both finished fourth, and will head to Vandalia as alternates.
