She grew up in Du Quoin, Illinois and attended Ward School and graduated from Du Quoin High school in 1937. She was a member of St. James Methodist Church, The Moose Lodge, the American Legion and volunteered for the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. She was also an election judge enthusiastically participating on many election days. She was an avid reader, always visited her friends who were sick and helped them in any way she could. She had a joyful soul with a bright smile and desire to be a loving person.

She is survived by her two children, Jackie Wayne Cook of Austin, Texas and Linda Kay Sandusky of San Diego, Calif. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and her only beloved grandchild, Douglas Wayne Cook.
