William R. Gassel

William R. 'Bill' Gassel, 55, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:47 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Bill had been a farmer and a factory worker at Natural Enrichment Industries in Sesser and Herrin.

He was born March 8, 1959 at Murphysboro, Ill., the son of Lawrence J. and Anna Bernice (Mann) Gassel.

He married Pauline F. Zettler on July 21, 1979 at Perry County, Ill. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two brothers - Jerry Gassel and wife Cheryl of Elkville and Larry Gassel and wife Sherry of Carlyle and one sister - Brenda Kay Faulkerson of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother - Bobby Joe Gassel and one sister - Wanda Faye Terry.

Per Bill's request, cremation rites were held. There will be no public visitation or funeral service.

A memorial dinner will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Elkville Park Pavillion. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Friends may make memorials to the donor's choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
