Mark Allen Chaney Sr.
Mark Allen Chaney Sr., 63, of Tamaroa, is now walking with Jesus in Heaven. He passed away at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale with his family by his side.
Before his accident in 1986, which left him a quadriplegic, he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his wonderful sons. Afterwards, he still enjoyed the outdoors, doing almost anything he wanted to do. Mark was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He was so thankful for all the friends and family who came to visit and prayed for him. Mark had worked at General Tire as a tire builder. He was an avid Facebooker.
Mark was a member of the Friendship Church of Christ in Tamaroa and was so thankful for his brothers and sisters in Christ.
Mark was born Dec. 18, 1951 at Ft. Campbell, Ky., the son of Paul and Mary (Lively) Chaney.
Left to remember Mark with heartfelt blessings are his mother - Mary Thomas of Tamaroa, his sons - Mark A. Chaney Jr. and wife Sheila of Tamaroa and Nathan Scott of Tamaroa, the grandchildren he so adored - Emmalee and Dawson, his best friend and soul mate - Sandy Huggins of Tamaroa, two brothers - Dennis Chaney of West Frankfort, Ill. and Matthew Chaney of Overland Park, Kans., four sisters - Paula Blackwill of Willis, Tex., Anita Chapman and husband Dave of Du Quoin, Johnie Leonard and husband Jerry of Tamaroa, Julie Goedert and husband Mark of Hastings, Neb., several aunts, uncles and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, maternal grandparents - George and Bertha Lively, paternal grandparents - Johnie and Myrtle Chaney, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Pastor Doug Burkhamer and Bill Nehrkorn officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery at Tamaroa.
Friends may make memorials to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
