Beatrice B. Yehling

Beatrice B. Yehling, 95, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:59 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Beatrice had worked as a sales clerk at P.N. Hirsch and Illinois Brokerage for many years. She had attended St. Elizabeth Academy High School in St. Louis and then transferred to Du Quoin High School and graduated in 1937. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and a member of Catholic Daughters. Beatrice was an avid traveler.

She was born Dec. 7, 1919 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Henry J. and Bernean Beatrice (Danklef) Schleper.

She married Herman Davison Yehling on July 5, 1943 at Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1984.

She is survived by three children - Mark Yehling and wife Donna of Granite City, Ill., Marla Engel and husband Bill of Del Mar, Calif. and Clark Yehling of Du Quoin, eight grandchildren - Mark Yehling II and wife Margaret of Bunker Hill, Ill., John Yehling and wife Michele of Staunton, Ill., Mary Lynn Scheibal and husband David of Edwardsville, Ill., Peter Engel of San Diego, Calif., Karen Brewster and husband John of Edwardsville, Ill., Matthew Yehling and wife Kristi of Crestwood, Mo., Paul Yehling and wife Casey of Granite City, Ill. and Paul Engel and wife Tiffany of Maui, Hawaii, 11 great grandchildren, one sister - Mary Frances Bailey of Du Quoin and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister - Louise Heinz, two brothers - Robert Dean Schleper and John Henry Schleper in infancy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Masses, Riverbend Down Syndrome Association or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
