Du Quoin Board of Education grants tenure to six district teachers; re-employs all others

The Du Quoin Board of Education has granted tenure to six teachers in Du Quoin Community Unit District 300. The vote followed an executive sessions and the information came after the newspaper's press time had passed for Friday's edition.

They are Jennifer Craft, Wendy Wear, Candace Campanella, Darin Hicks, Emily Plumlee and Katie Spain.

The board re-employed for the 2015-2016 school year all probationary continued contractual first, second and third year certified staff. They are Jessica Craig (second grade); Kyle Geiger (Dean of Students); Brittnie Kellerman (fourth Grade); Shaneille Piper (kindergarten); Sandy Stanhouse (first grade); Leslie Small (Title I); Jo C. Dill (math); Beth Young (nurse/ health occupations) and A.J. Hill (Social Studies and Academic Success).

Teachers must be employed for three years before they are considered for tenure.

The board re-employed all tenured certified staff for the 2015-2016 school year.

The board authorized annual reduction-in-force notices for certain extra-curricular positions held by non-DEA members in accordance with the contract between the Du Quoin Education Association and board of education.

The board accepted the resignation of Kristin Wilson as Middle School language arts club sponsor effective at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.

The Board accepted the resignation of Wendell Wheeler as high school head varsity boys basketball coach effective at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.
