Charles Wayne Brown

Charles Wayne Brown, age 81, of Du Quoin, Ill., passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 1:55 p.m. in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Marion, Ill.

Charles was born on Sept. 4, 1933 in East St. Louis, Ill., a son to Charles and Myrtle (White) Brown. On Oct. 6, 2007, he married Wilma J. Quinn in the Philadelphia Baptist Church, Du Quoin, Ill., and she survives. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Charles was of the Baptist faith, worked as truck driver and in production at a packing house. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, frog gigging, painting cars, selling cars, barbecuing and riding his go-go scooter. Charles loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Quinn Brown of Du Quoin, Ill.; two daughters, Brenda (David) Skaggs and Beverly Creekpaum, all of Du Quoin, Ill.; four grandchildren, April (Shibu)Morias of Indianapolis, Ind., Joseph Creekpaum Jr. of Du Quoin, Ill., Steven Creekpaum of Du Quoin, Ill. and Kyle (Crystal) Creekpaum of Tamaroa, Ill.; one great-grandchild, Shane Creekpaum of Tamaroa, Ill. and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill., on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill., on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
