SOFTBALL: Morrow homers twice in Lady Panthers' win at Freeburg

Pinckneyville pounded the ball for sixteen hits in Tuesday's 11-5 road win over Freeburg, getting a pair of two-run homers from first baseman Brooklyn Morrow, who finished the game with 5 RBIs.

Morrow put PCHS on the board in the top of the third inning with two-out, RBI double to bring in Andrea Morgan (single). Emma Banach followed with an RBI base hit and the Lady Panthers had a 2-0 lead.

Freeburg got a run back on a triple and an error in the bottom of the third, but Pinckneyville kept coming.

Pitcher Mariah Clark hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth, scoring Caitie Opp (single). Morrow hit her first round-tripper the next inning, and Clark and Josie Gleason added RBIs later in the inning to put Pinckneyville ahead 8-1.

Morrow's second home run was in the top of the sixth, another two-run bomb that brought in Kylee Kling (single).

Clark allowed three earned runs on ten hits and two walks with five strikeouts to get the win for PCHS.

Kling (2-5, R), Morrow (3-4, 3 R, 5 RBI, 2B, 2 HR, BB), Banach (3-5, RBI), Clark (2-3, R, 3 RBI, HR, SAC), Gleason (2-4, 2B, RBI), Morgan (1-2, R, BB, SAC), Caitie Opp (1-3, R, BB) and Kearsten Opp (3-3, 2B, SAC) all hit safely for the Lady Panthers.

Pinckneyville (7-1) travels to Steeleville on Thursday.
