Steeleville resident arrested after residential burglary

<span>In a Thursday news release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff said 19-year-old Courtney L. Ray, of Steeleville, has been arrested for residential burglary.</span>

<span>According to Wolff, his office received a 911 call at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon reporting a residential burglary in progress on Boedker Lane in Walsh. The victim returned home and was able to get a description of both the suspect and the suspect's vehicle.</span>

<span>In an interview with the Herald Tribune, Wolff said the unnamed victim was not injured in the incident.</span>

<span>Officers with the Steeleville Police Department located and stopped the vehicle and items allegedly taken from the residence were found in both Ray's vehicle and Ray's residence on Chester Road.</span>

<span>Members of the Illinois State Police's Crime Scene Division also assisted with processing evidence at the residence on Boedker Lane. Wolff said the investigation is continuing, but does not expect any other arrests at this time.</span>

<span>Wolff emphasized that a combined effort by members of the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police, Randolph County State's Attorney's Office and officers with the Sparta and Steeleville police departments was made to achieve the arrest.</span>

<span>"Quick action by everyone involved is very important," Wolff stated in the news release. He requested that any suspicious activity be reported immediately to his office.</span>
