Obituary for Bertha Prater

BERTHA IRENE TURNER PRATER, 93, of Chester, IL, formerly of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home in Chester, IL.

She was born to the late John B. Gordon Turner and Ada Mae (nee: Miner) Turner on March 8, 1921 in Bixby, MO.

Bertha married Howard I. Prater on October 27, 1936 in Houston, Texas County, MO. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1995.

She was a housewife.

Bertha was of the Baptist Faith and a member of AARP.

Survivors include eight children Ada Mae Hill, Percy, IL, Janet M. Beecher, Steeleville, IL, Richard J. (Jane) Prater, Steeleville, IL, Linda S. (David) Offermann, Waterloo, IL, Kenneth W. (Rose) Prater, St. Mary, MO, Nancy Jane (Andy, Jr.) Cleiman, Perryville, MO, Vanessa F. (Dean) Byer, Russellville, KY, Harold Issac Prater, Prairie du Rocher, IL and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband - Howard I. Prater, three daughters - Geraldine Pollard, Bettie Warren and Patricia Elizabeth Prater, one Son - Carl Prater, six brothers, three sisters, two granddaughters, two grandsons and one great grandson.

Funeral service was held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Illinois with Rev. Elledge, Rev. Phil Keeton and Kyle Montgomery officiating. Interment was in St. Marcus Cemetery, Red Bud, Illinois.
