Obituary for Harold Glenn Hindman

Harold Glenn Hindman, 72, of Chester, Illinois, passed through the gates of Heaven to meet his old friends and family at 9:35 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home, Chester, Illinois.

He was born to the late Howard and Marjorie (nee Leiper) Hindman on January 13, 1943 in Salem, Illinois.

He was never married and of the Protestant Faith.

After graduating from Moline High School in June of 1961, he enlisted into the United States Navy. His first assignment was on the USS Cadmus of the Atlantic Fleet during the Cuban Missal Crisis. The USS Cadmus was sent to The Bay of Pigs.

He served 4 years active and 3 years reservist. Then he re-enlisted in May 1969 and was assigned to the USS Sperry of the Pacific fleet. He took early discharge while serving on the USS Isle Royale. He was honorably discharged as Optical man Second Class in September of 1970.

He attended the University of Iowa, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and Belleville Area College. He worked in HVAC field and eventually retired from Chester Mental Health in 2006 as an outside Security Officer.

Glenn, lovingly called "Uncle"Å¥ by his nephew Jeremy, lived a full happy life. He spent the rest of his days traveling with his family and good friend Marlene. He enjoyed the internet and playing Jeopardy from the comfort of his sofa.

Survivors include three brothers: Gary (Linda) Hindman, Soldotna, AK,John (Jan) Hindman, Elkville, IL,<span class="s1"> and </span>Marty Hindman, Paradise Valley, AZ<span class="s1">; </span>two sisters: Ruth (Alan) Wahlman, Walsh, IL,<span class="s1"> and </span>Patty (Chris) Jeffreys, Chester, IL;special friend Marlene Edwards, Walsh, IL<span class="s1">; </span>17 nieces and nephews;<span class="s1"> and </span>30 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents - Mr. & Mrs. J. P. Leiper and Mr. & Mrs. Murry Hindman; one sister, Mary Ann; and one niece, Rosetta Nicole Hindman.

<span class="s1"> A </span>Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2015 atPechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Illinois with Rev. Harold Weber officiating.<span class="s1"> </span>Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery<span class="s1"> in Chester.</span>

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.<span class="s1"> and on </span>Thursday from 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. <span class="s1">at the </span>Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home.<span class="s1">
