BASS FISHING: Pinckneyville, Elverado boats win Sectional titles

Elverado boats No. 1 and No. 2 claimed the top two spots at Friday's Lake of Egypt Sectional, and Pinckneyville Community High School's No. 1 and No. 2 boats brought home the No. 1 and No. 2 spots at the Rend Lake Sectional for IHSA Bass Fishing.

For PCHS, it was the No. 2 boat, which included Kaylee Rulevish's 4 lb. 15 oz. tournament-high catch, that finished first at the Sectional.

Grant Murphy, Sawyer Loos and driver Dennis Heape made up the rest of the Sectional-winning boat for the Panthers.

PCHS's first boat, which finished second, contained Cale Jausel, Jacob Louis, Danny Span and driver Duke Jenkel.

Benton claimed the third spot to advance from the Sectional tournament at Rend Lake.

Elverado's No. 1 boat includes Justin Sarensen (who led the event's largest bass with a catch of 4 lb. 4 oz.), Nolan Waller and driver Elmer Brandhorst. The Falcons' No. 2 boat contained Alec Valerius, Zach Berner and driver Greg Berner.

West Frankfort claimed the third advancing spot from Lake of Egypt.

The Bass Fishing State Finals are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 15-16 at Carlyle Lake.
