Steeleville man found dead after motorcycle crash
A 22-year-old Steeleville man was found dead late Monday night after his family reported him missing.
According to Randolph County Coroner Randy Dudenbostel, Christian L. Young was found on Route 150, a tenth of a mile west of Bremen. His family previously contacted the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and reported Young had failed to return home on Sunday night and failed to show up for work on Monday.
According to a news release from the sheriff's office, Young's last contact with a family member was on Sunday at 11:55 p.m. Family members verified the 2008 Honda motorcycle Young was driving was not at his grandfather's residence on Welge Road.
After a search of the route Young would have taken to return to his grandfather's house, a sheriff's deputy found the accident scene on Monday at 11:27 p.m. and Young was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:35 p.m. by Dudenbostel.
"Apparently, he was eastbound and veered off the left side of the road," Dudenbostel said.
Sheriff's Office Det. Donnie Krull confirmed to the Herald Tribune that Young was wearing a helmet.
"As far as we know, we have no reason to believe he was with anybody," said Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff. "There was nothing for us to believe that it wasn't anything other than a traffic crash."
