Daniel Malanowski

Daniel Malanowski, 88, of Tamaroa, passed away at 12:10 A.M., Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Memorial Hospital in

Carbondale.

Daniel was a retired farmer and coal miner. He had worked as a welder, truck driver and had loaded coal cars at the Captain Mine. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa. He was also a member of the UMW of A and the American Legion. Daniel proudly served his country as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy during World War II, where he received the Victory ribbon, American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with one star and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one star.

He was born September 24, 1926 at Sesser, IL, the son of Felix and Helen (Ratajczyk) Malanowski.

Daniel married Rose M. Zielinski on September 2, 1961 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa, three children - Mark Malanowski and wife Judy of Tamaroa, David Malanowski and wife Jennifer of Scheller, and Lynn Hauser and husband Michael of Ballwin, MO, seven grandchildren - Michael Malanowski, Daniel Malanowski, Marcella Malanowski, Jessica Johnson, Sara Malanowski, Katrina Hauser and Rachel Hauser, and one sister-in-law - Helen Malanowski of Mt. Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother - Adolph Malanowski and three sisters - Adella Malanowski, Elizabeth Malanowski and Florence Kabat.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery at Tamaroa.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the United States Navy.

Friends may make memorials to Masses or St. Jude Childrenís Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
