Janet Lynn Conner Cook

Janet Lynn Conner Cook, 67, of Benton, passed away at 2:40 P.M., Sunday, October 11, 2015 at her residence.

Janet and her husband had owned restaurants in Christopher and Benton from 1981 until 2006 when she retired. Janet had a very strong work ethic. She was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She and her husband enjoyed watching the Cardinal games together. Janet wished she could have devoted more time to her grandchildren.

She was born March 26, 1948 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Harley and Betty (Alvis) Conner.

She married Morris Lee Cook on August 6, 1966 at Du Quoin, IL and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2015 due to cancer. Janet lived for Morris and was a devoted wife and a proud Army wife for twenty-one years.

She is survived by one daughter - Tammy Lynn Cook Epplin of Pinckneyville and her daughters - Madyson Epplin, Morgan Epplin, and Macy Epplin, one son - Michael Lee Cook of Benton and his children - Mathew Cook, Chelsea Cook and Mika Cook, her sister and best friend - Judy Phillips of Du Quoin, siblings - Kathy Plant of Missouri, Jerry Conner of Mt. Vernon, Jimmy Conner of Raleigh, NC, Ed Conner of Du Quoin, Fred Conner of North Carolina, Larry Conner of North Carolina and John Conner of Du Quoin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers - Jeff Conner and Steven Conner.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Breast Cancer and will be accepted at the funeral home.
