Girls

New Athens 57, Steeleville 34

Abby Marlow led three players in double figures with 15 points and New Athens raced out to a 20-point halftime lead in a win over Steeleville.

Jodi Griffin (12) and Courtney Ragland (10) also reached double figures for New Athens, which took a 47-21 lead into the fourth quarter.

Sydney Hood scored a team-high 15 points for the Lady Warriors in the loss.

St. Vincent 46, Chester 40

Alexis McMath scored 15 points and Kaitlyn Dillow added 10, but St. Vincent did enough to hold off Chester last Thursday.

Emily Tudor and Logan Colvis combined for 12 points for Chester (12-11), which trailed 24-20 at halftime and 36-32 entering the fourth quarter.

It was also the regular season and home finale for the Lady Yellow Jackets, who do not have any seniors on this year's roster.

Boys

Gibault Catholic 57, Chester 36

Two days after jumping out to a commanding lead in a win over Goreville, the shoe was on the other foot for Chester last Thursday in a loss to Gibault Catholic.

Chester fell behind 20-6 after the first quarter and saw its deficit balloon to 22, 33-11, at halftime. The Hawks would increase their advantage to 27, 50-23, entering the fourth quarter.

Jack Weir led Chester (15-7) with 16 points, while Austin Carpenter added six points.

In the JV contest, Nick Heffernan scored 13 points and Drake Bollman added 10 as Chester (7-7) defeated Gibault Catholic 46-29.

Clay Herrell and Josh Haberberger combined for 15 points for the Yellow Jackets.

S'ville 63, Dupo 54

Nic Hagel scored 28 points and R.J. Smith added 12 as Steeleville downed Dupo.

The Warriors (16-8, 8-0 Cahokia Conference) trailed Dupo 17-12 after the first quarter, but Steeleville rallied to outscore the Tigers 19-9 in the second.

The Warriors took a 43-37 lead into the fourth quarter. Parker Lutz contributed eight points for Steeleville, while Trey Lazenby chipped in seven.

Chester 69, Valmeyer 48

After Chester saw a 13-5 start whittle down to a 27-21 lead at halftime, the Yellow Jackets scored 21 points in the third quarter to pull away from Valmeyer.

Jack Weir led four Chester players with 15 points, while Jake Golding (14), Savion Smith (12) and Austin Carpenter (12) also reached double figures.

Chester (16-7) took a 48-33 lead into the fourth quarter.

S'ville 75, Sparta 69

Nic Hagel scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures, and Steeleville defeated Sparta last Saturday.

R.J. Smith (14), Trey Lazenby (12) and Owen Gross (10) also reached double digits for the Warriors (17-8), who took a 50-48 lead into the fourth quarter.

Alex Bennett led Sparta with 19 points in the loss, while Gabe Yearian added 16, Ty Brown chipped in 12 and Drew Kordys contributed 11.

S'ville 60, Lebanon 47

Nic Hagel scored 24 points and Dusty Sutton added 17 as Steeleville clinched the Cahokia Conference Kaskaskia Division title with a win over Lebanon.

Seven players scored at least a bucket for the Warriors (18-8, 9-0 Cahokia Conference), who outscored Lebanon (10-12, 5-2) 31-21 in the second half.
