Tractor-trailer driver cited in Route 150 crash

<span>A Coulterville man, on his 54th birthday, was cited for improper lane useage and not wearing a seatbelt in Thursday's two-vehicle accident on Route 150 near Rabe's Lane.</span>

<span>According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office accident report, Leonard Woodside was driving a 1999 International tractor-trailer westbound on Route 150 when the vehicle crossed the centerline and sideswiped an eastbound 2001 Ford van driven by Wanda Monroe of Sparta.</span>

<span>The van was hit on the driver's side and continued 104 feet from the point of impact, eventually coming to rest on the eastbound shoulder and facing the opposite direction.</span>

<span>The tractor-trailer traveled an additional 406 feet from the point of impact before coming to rest on the westbound shoulder of Route 150.</span>

<span>The collision caused parts of both vehicles to be scattered for roughly 300 feet along the shoulder and embankment of the eastbound lane.</span>

<span>Woodside was uninjured in the accident, while Monroe was extricated by the Steeleville Fire Department and taken to Sparta Community Hospital by MedStar Ambulance.</span>

<span>First responders at the scene told the Herald Tribune that Monroe's injuries were not considered life threatening.</span>

<span>The accident occurred at 12:24 p.m. with Deputy Justin Baker responding. The highway was closed in both directions while first responders attended to the accident.</span>

<span>The citations were issued by the Illinois State Police.</span>
