No injuries in Bridge Bypass Road accident
A two-vehicle accident on Bridge Bypass Road in Chester on Thursday resulted in no injuries at the scene, according to the Chester Police Department.
In a news release from CPD Chief Ryan Coffey, 34-year-old Jerri S. Fulton, of Perryville, was traveling west on Bridge Bypass Road in a 1999 Toyota Camry.
Fulton slowed due to traffic and the Camry was struck from behind by a 1992 Chevrolet 1500 pickup, driven by 26-year-old Brandon J. Dilday of Rockwood.
Dilday was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The accident was reported at 9:01 a.m.
The Chester Fire Department was paged out 25 minutes later for accident cleanup, as a 30-foot oil slick had formed as a result of the collision.
"We used Dawn dishwashing soap and brushed (the road) and washed it down," said Chester Fire Chief Marty Bert. "(Dawn) is good for the environment, it breaks all that grease down."
The CFD was also paged out in the early hours of Thursday for a CO2 detector sounding. Bert said it was a minor call.
"The CO2 detector was just a bad detector, it was eight or 10 years old," Bert said. "I think 10 years is all they're supposed to last."
