Chester woman arrested after domestic incident

A 20-year-old Chester woman was arrested for aggravated assault and criminal damage to property after an incident on Jefferson Street in Chester on Monday.

According to a news release from the Chester Police Department, officers arrested Tiashay A. Roberts after receiving a 911 call at 3:12 p.m. of a domestic in progress at 1304 Jefferson St.

The caller reported one of the parties was armed with a knife. Responding law enforcement from the CPD and the Randolph County Sheriff's Office arrived and secured the scene.

The CPD's release states Roberts is believed to have threatened the victim while armed with a knife, which was located and recovered at the scene.

She is also alleged to have taken a blunt object and struck the victim's vehicle several times prior to police arrival.

The vehicle reportedly sustained significant damage. Roberts was taken to the Randolph County Jail, where she remained as of Tuesday morning.

"The complaining witness has already been in to sign a do-not-prosecute document," said Randolph County State's Attorney Jeremy Walker. "The incident is still under review."
