2 Killed in Steeleville 'T' Three Vehicle Accident

Illinois State Police at the District 13 command in Du Quoin say a 39-year-old Cutler, Ill. woman and her 20-year old male passenger also from Cutler were killed in a three vehicle accident just inside the Randolph County line Monday morning.

Information officer Christopher Watson said the accident happened at approximately 8:55 a.m. on Route 150 east of Route 4 near Steeleville.

Lynette A. Koch, 39, of Cutler, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier westbound on Route 150.

Shawn M. Jones, 40, of Sparta, was headed eastbound in a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado, pulling a trailer, in front of Brent A. Taylor, 58, of Evansville, Illinois, who was driving a 2007 Freightliner.

Police say Koch veered from her lane and struck the trailer being pulled by the Silverado. She then struck the Freightliner in a head-on crash.

Jones was uninjured. Taylor had non-incapacitating injuries.

Koch was pronounced dead at the scene by the Randolph County Coroner. Her passenger, Shawn Michael Williams Farmer, 20, of Cutler, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

All vehicles were towed from the scene.

The roadway was closed for nearly two hours for crash investigation and cleanup.Randolph County Sheriff's personnel and a local ambulance service also assisted.

Officer Watson said no charges are forthcoming as a result of the horrific accident.
