Shed destroyed by fire

Firefighters with the Chester Fire Department were paged out to 474 W. German St. at 12:37 p.m. Monday to the report of a shed on fire.

Witnesses told the Herald Tribune they had heard an explosion and Chester Fire Chief Marty Bert said a propane tank inside the shed contributed to the incident.

Fire units cleared the scene at 1:18 p.m. The property is owned by Norbert Bert.

"The homeowner thinks he started it by accident," Chief Bert said. "He was burning off the grass in his driveway with a torch and it spread."
