Three-vehicle accident occurs north of Ellis Grove

Thunderstorms may have played a part in the three-vehicle accident on Route 3 between Ellis Grove and Evansville on Tuesday afternoon.

Jarrod Peters, Randolph County Sheriff's Office chief deputy, told the Herald Tribune that adverse driving conditions could have led to the accident that involved a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, 2002 Mazda Protege and a 2014 Volkswagen Eos.

According to the accident report, the Silverado - driven by 61-year-old Allen Livingston, of Valmeyer - was traveling north on Route 3 when it crossed the center line and struck the Mazada, driven by 58-year-old Lester Marsh of St. Louis, Mo.

After striking the Mazda, the Silverado then collided with the Volkswagen, driven by 29-year-old Jenna Schilling. Both the Mazda and Volkswagen were southbound on Route 3.

The Silverado pulled off the side of the road while the Mazda went into the east ditch and the Volkswagen into the west ditch.

None of those involved in the accident - which included a 56-year-old passenger in the Mazda, Eileen Marsh, also of St. Louis - were listed as needing hospital treatment.

The accident was reported at 3:23 p.m. with Deputy Janice Barbour responding. Both Ellis Grove and Evansville fire departments were also paged to respond.
