Deer causes Route 3 accident

<span>A deer was reportedly the cause of Wednesday's rollover crash on Route 3 between Chester and Rockwood near the Rutt Racing facility.</span>

<span>According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office crash report, 26-year-old Thomas Quinn, of Murphysboro, was traveling southbound in a 2007 Ford Focus.</span>

<span>Quinn told law enforcement he swerved to miss a deer, causing him to run off the right side of the roadway and hit a power pole.</span>

<span>The Focus then spun and rolled twice, coming to rest on its passenger side in the treeline bordering the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.</span>

<span>Quinn was not injured in the crash, but was evaluated by MedStar Ambulance at the scene. T</span>he Chester Fire Department was paged due to downed power lines as a result of the accident.

<span>The accident was reported at 10:50 a.m., with Deputy Janice Barbour responding.</span>
