Two injured in wreck near Pierre Menard Home
<span>Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Kaskaskia Street north of the Pierre Menard Home on Friday.</span>
<span>According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office accident report, 86-year-old Armin Montroy was driving a 2014 GMC SUV southbound on Kaskaskia Street six-tenths of a mile north of Shawneetown Trail.</span>
<span>Montroy, for an unspecified reason, veered into the northbound lane and struck a 2009 Harley-Davidson driven by 51-year-old David J. Meehan, of Waterloo.</span>
<span>The SUV left the east side of the roadway and continued through a ditch before striking a tree head-on at the end of a private drive.</span>
<span>Meehan was ejected from the motorcycle, which came to rest facing southwest in the northbound ditch. Meehan landed six feet in front of the vehicle.</span>
<span>Meehan was airlifted from the scene and transported to St. Louis University Hospital. Montroy was treated at Chester Memorial Hospital.</span>
<span>Montroy was cited for improper lane useage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The accident was reported at 2:09 p.m. with Deputy Shane Rinehart responding.</span>
