90-year-old injured in Route 154 crash

<p dir="ltr"><span>A 90-year-old Baldwin resident suffered serious injuries in a Friday crash on State Route 154 at Hickory Grove Road, located between Baldwin and Sparta.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>According to the Illinois State Police's accident report, Vernon E. Bracknell was westbound on Route 154 in a 2014 Nissan Altima when a 2012 Dodge pulled out in front of him at the intersection with Hickory Grove Road.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The driver of the Dodge, 51-year-old Bryan S. Diercks, was uninjured and cited for failure to yield at an intersection.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>"Diercks was pulling into the intersection from Hickory Grove Road and failed to yield to Bracknell," said ISP Trooper Christopher "Joey" Watson. "They collided, causing major damage."</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Watson told the Herald Tribune that Bracknell received "incapacitating" injuries and was transported via ambulance to a local hospital.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Both vehicles were towed due to damage. The accident was reported at 12:22 p.m.</span>
