Du Quoin woman one of two killed in Sunday motorcycle accident

Two people--one from Du Quoin--were killed in a motorcycle wreck near DeSoto in Jackson County Sunday morning.

Deputies got the call at 8:05 a.m.

Police say the motorcycle was traveling west on Vaughn Road when a sharp turn caused him to veer off the road and strike a tree.

The county coroner pronounced the 34-year-old William Skelton of Johnston City dead at the scene; his passenger, 27-year-old Heather Basenberg of Du Quoin later died of her injuries at a nearby hospital.
