Drawing for car is Monday
It's true. You can't win if you don't enter, and local residents have until 4 p.m. on Monday to purchase raffle tickets on this beautiful new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze.
It's a loaded LT model and only 1,800 tickets at $20 apiece were printed. A lot of tickets have been sold, but not as many as hoped for, which increases your chances of winning.
Milly Jones representing the Du Quoin Swimming Indians will draw for the winning ticket at the start of Monday night's Du Quoin City Council meeting.
Any unsold tickets have been returned to city hall and you still have time to purchase a ticket by stopping by the water office, which closes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday , but please get there a half hour earlier, if possible, so the office doesn't have to stay open beyond 4:30 p.m. The Du Quoin Swimming Indians in cooperation with the City of Du Quoin have sold 1,200 of the 1,800 raffle tickets. The cost of the car is already covered. The rest of the income from ticket sales will go toward the restoration of the Du Quoin Swimming Pool, which starts in October.
Car raffle tickets and gun raffle tickets are expected to generate over $2,000 toward the pool restoration project, more if you buy tickets before 4 p.m. Monday
