Beta Nu Sorority honors local law enforcement

Members of Beta Nu Sorority, a Chester chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, presented gift bags to Chester Police Department officers and Randolph County Sheriff's deputies on Tuesday.

"We just wanted to let you know you are appreciated," said Joni Searles.

The "survival kits" include LifeSavers (to remind you of the many times you have been one), Starburst (for the burst of energy you will need), PayDay (because you're not doing it for the money), Hershey's kisses (because you deserve them from all), Tootsie Roll (to help you roll with the punches), Peppermint Patty (to help your cool), Snickers (to remind you to keep your sense of humor), Smarties (to give you wisdom for those split-second decisions) and Nuts (for all the nutty excuses you've heard).

"Thank you for dealing with all the Dum-Dums and keeping Chester safe," a note attached to each gift bag reads.

Linda Stallman, another member of the Beta Nu Sorority, told the Herald Tribune the group will present a similar initiative to Chester Fire Department firefighters during Fire Prevention Month next month.
