Willisville resident arrested after Perry County incident

A 37-year-old Willisville resident was arrested Wednesday evening near Chester High School by Randolph County Sheriff's deputies in relation to an incident in Willisville that occurred earlier that evening.

Perry County Sheriff Steve Bareis told the Herald Tribune that Terry Diamond was arrested for criminal damage to property, home invasion and battery for the incident that occurred on Reiman Street in Willisville.

The complaint, which was reported at 6:51 p.m. Wednesday, alleges that Diamond made entry to the home through the front door because the residents, Laura Hardesty and her husband, Scott, would not come to the door.

Diamond then encountered Laura Hardesty and during the resulting confrontation, he allegedly ripped a cell phone from Hardesty's hand and damaged it.

"Evidently, there was a physical confrontation," Bareis said. "She had lit a cigarette during the exchange and he hit her arm and she slapped him.

"I'm assuming they knew each other."

Diamond then allegedly made threats to Scott Hardesty before leaving. Police arrived five to 10 minutes later and a description of Diamond's vehicle, a 1998 Chevrolet pickup, was dispatched to law enforcement.

Diamond was pulled over by Randolph County Sheriff's deputies on Swanwick Street near Morrison Street. Officers with the Chester Police Department assisted.

Diamond also received Randolph County citations of possession of ammunition without a FOID card (no gun was found), driving with license suspended/revoked and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Randolph County Chief Deputy Jarrod Peters told the newspaper Diamond was extradited back to Perry County, with the exchange taking place at the Percy T.

He was still incarcerated at the Perry County Jail as of Friday morning.
