Old Glory returns to Chester for another run

Old Glory is returning to Chester for another run.

For the fourth year in a row, Team Red, White and Blue's Old Glory Relay will run through Southern Illinois, starting at VFW Kaskaskia Post 3553 in Chester on Saturday at 8 a.m.

The Southern Illinois leg of the relay will conclude at Crab Orchard Golf Course's Loopers Restaurant in Carterville. A reception is scheduled at Loopers at 6 p.m. tomorrow following the run.

The relay started in San Francisco, Calif., on Sept. 11 and runners are carrying the flag across the country, with the run to end in Tampa on Veterans' Day.

The relay was created as a public display of honoring those who have fought for and continue to fight for America's freedom.
