According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office crash report, 36-year-old Benjamin Buckley, driving a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle, was traveling westbound on Route 150.

Buckley told responding law enforcement that he struck an object in the road, causing his glasses to fly off. He then reached over to pick them off the floorboard when the vehicle reportedly struck a second object in the roadway.

The secondary collision reportedly caused Buckley to lose control of the Beetle, which - according to the report - slid across both lanes and ran off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle ramped up a ditch embankment before coming to rest.

Buckley was transported to Chester Memorial Hospital by MedStar Ambulance with unspecified injuries. The accident was reported at 1:14 p.m., with Steeleville firefighters assisting.
