Chester's Golding makes BDC First Team
<p dir="ltr"><span>The Black Diamond Conference released its all-conference football selections on Tuesday, with six Chester players being honored after a 4-5 season this year.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Yellow Jacket senior Jake Golding was the lone First Team selection on the defensive side, coming after a season in which he recorded 66 tackles (30 solo) and 5.5 sacks. Sixteen of his tackles were for loss.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Seniors Chris Lang (RB) and Savion Smith (END), and junior Nick Heffernan (LB) all earned second-team selections, with Lang and Smith on the offensive side of the ball and Heffernan on the defensive.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Lang recorded 587 rushing yards on 89 attempts for Chester and had six pass receptions for 104 yards.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Smith had 13 catches for 273 yards, and also ran the ball seven times for 85 yards. Heffernan, after missing his entire sophomore season due to a broken neck, returned this season to lead the Yellow Jackets with 72 tackles (29 solo), six of which went for loss.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Junior lineman Brady Kelkhoff and sophomore quarterback Nick Meyer were named Honorable Mentions.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Conference MVP honors went to Eldorado's Payton Price, while Carmi-White County's Jake Simon was named the Offensive Captain.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Johnston City's Luca Gualdoni was named the Defensive Captain.</span>
