Chester's Golding named All-South

<p dir="ltr"><span>Chester senior Jake Golding was recently named to the Southern Illinois Coaches Association All-South football team.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Golding - who has not yet signed for college football, but is considering some colleges - ran for 600 yards and six touchdowns for the 4-5 Yellow Jackets, while catching eight passes for 133 yards.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Defensively, Golding recorded 66 tackles (16 for loss) and 5.5 sacks. He recorded double-digit tackles in three games last season. Thirty-three of the 47 players named to the All-South team were seniors.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>ANNA -- Jake Golding's putback of a Demontae Martin miss with 1.1 seconds left capped a fourth quarter Yellow Jacket comeback, lifting Chester to a win over Anna-Jonesboro on Dec. 20.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Golding finished with 10 points for the Yellow Jackets (7-2), who were led by Savion Smith's 23. Martin also added 10 points to put three Chester players in double figures.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>A-J outscored Chester 23-17 in the third quarter to take a 48-40 lead into the fourth, but several Wildcats turnovers opened the door for the Yellow Jackets.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Chester led 11-19 after the first quarter, but Anna-Jonesboro (4-6) outscored the Yellow Jackets 16-14 to tie the game at 25 at intermission. Jake Parr led the Wildcats with 18 points in the loss.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>The win also gave Chester coach Brad Norman his 92nd career victory with the Yellow Jackets, one shy of Bill Brewer (1949-56) for the program record. Brewer went 93-97 in seven seasons on the hardwood.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Chester also won the JV game, 55-42, to remain undefeated at 4-0. The JV's next contest will come Jan. 3 at Zeigler-Royalton.</span>
