Obituary for Cleo Mae Applegate
<strong>CLEO MAE APPLEGATE, 95</strong>, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 1:35 a.m., Sunday, February 5, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Chester, Illinois.
She was born to the late Fred and Ruth Elizabeth (nee: Grabel) Rodenhouser on May 28, 1921 in Galesburg, Illinois.
She married Rexford Arnold Applegate on July 28, 1944 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2002.
Cleo was a math teacher for 28 years.
She was a member of Grace Church Ministries in Chester. She was an Eastern Star, a Roving Volunteers in Christ’s Service (traveling Ministry) and was involved with Prayer Partner for “Every Home For Christ” for 30 years.
Survivors include three children - Anita (Jerry) Stanfill, Rockford; Betty (James) Krieg, Chester and Fred (Nancy) Applegate, Rockford.
Sister-in-law - Marilyn Applegate, Kilgore, Texas. Nine grandchildren - Mike (Tanya) Stanfill, Penny (Dan) Graybeal, John (Renee) Stanfill, Jessica (Gabe) Doiron, Janette (Jermaine) Jones, Jeff (Krista) Krieg, Jason Applegate, Laura Applegate, and Daniel (Erica) Applegate.
Fourteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband, Rex Applegate, two brothers – Don Rodenhouser and Fred E. Rodenhouser and one sister, Dorothy Munday.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Grace Church Ministries, Chester, Ill., with Pastor Ron Coleman officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday, 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Grace Church Ministries, Chester.
Burial will be at a later date. Memorials can be made to family choice.
