Perry County Retired Teachers meet

The Perry County Retired Teachers Association met Thursday, Feb. 9 at Alongi&rsquo;s Restaurant in Du Quoin.<br /> President Pat Ferrari introduced Don Ostrum, Illinois Retired Teachers Association Region 16 director. Ostrum brought the group up to date on proposed legislation affecting retired teachers.<br /> The business meeting included the reading of the previous minutes by Secretary, Cindy Barge and the Treasurer&rsquo;s Report by Barb Brock. A membership up date was given by Ferrari. A life membership to PCRTA was discussed with Ferrari asking for input from the membership.<br /> PCRTA has a website, perrycountyretiredteachersassociation.com. There were 238 visits to that site last month. <br /> Two important dates were announced by the president. <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1058_1161">May 4 is the Area 6 Conference in Carbondale, and Oct. 30 and 31 is the IRTA Convention in Springfield.</span> Anyone interested in attending these events is asked to let the president know.<br /> Door prizes were drawn for before the adjournment of the meeting. <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1308_1377">The next meeting is Thursday, May 11 at The Grecian in Pinckneyville.</span>
