Cleda M. Pickett, of Sparta; formerly of Chester
SPARTA – Cleda M. Pickett, 75, of Sparta, passed away at 7:36 a.m., Friday, February 17, 2017 at her home in Sparta.
Cleda was born in Chester, Illinois, on October 15, 1941, the daughter of Rudolph and Cleda Brenning Hapke.
She was a retired baker from Sparta School District, having worked for over 30 years. She always enjoyed the ladies she worked with and the enjoyment the children had eating her baking.
Cleda was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sparta.
Cleda is survived by her children, Linda (Fred) Davitz of Chester, Kenneth (Cara) Pickett of Sparta, Donald Pickett of Leadwood, MO and June (John) McManus of Coulterville; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Kempfer of Sparta; one nephew, Todd Kempfer.
Cleda was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Rev. Cory Marth officiating.
Burial will follow at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. all at the church.
Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville.
