Chester firefighters respond to grass fire

<span style="font-weight: 400;">On a windy day on Sunday, Chester firefighters were paged to the report of a grass fire at 9423 Walkinghorse Lane, which is located east of Randolph County Lake.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">"They were burning trash," said Chester Fire Chief Marty Bert. "They had an outside burn barrel and the wind blew the fire out of the barrel and into the woods."</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The property is owned by Mike Baughman and the fire was reported at 9:24 a.m. Bert said his firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze with the CFD's brush truck and Engine 1912.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">"We were done within an hour," he said.</span>
