Perry County Sheriff fields multiple stolen dog reports

Authorities are investigating a recent string of dog thefts in Perry County reportedly done by someone posing as an animal control officer.
Sheriff Steve Bareis says his office has received three allegations of dog thefts in recent weeks, and prior to each incident, a white truck with a dog box in the back has been seen in days prior or in close proximity.
Bareis says Perry County Animal Control has a white truck, but it has a camper shell on it and is marked as Perry County Animal Control. The suspected vehicle, possibly a Dodge Truck, has "Animal Control" on the truck. It may be a magnetic sign.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Perry County Sheriff's Office at 618-357-5212.
