Lady Indians win third straight over West Frankfort, 8-4
The Lady Indians picked up their third straight win Wednesday evening, edging out West Frankfort, 8-4, as Mackenzie Jackson picked up her fourth win of the year. <br />Jackson tossed a complete game, surrendering seven hits while striking out four. <br />The Lady Redbirds took an 2-0 lead to open the game, but the Lady Indians responded with one of their own, an RBI single from Sadie Day to score Jackson who reached on a single. <br />Du Quoin added two more runs in the second to take a 3-2 lead, as Kat Robinson came around to score on a West Frankfort error after reaching on a walk. Jackson followed up, plating Smith, while Jackson came around to score on another West Frankfort error. <br />Jackson picked up her second RBI of the game in the fourth to Robinson and Morgan Bullar followed up with a two-run home run to put the Lady Indians ahead 7-2. <br />Du Quoin tacked on one last run in the sixth with Jackson's third RBI of the game, scoring Smith for the third time. <br />Ahead 8-2, the Lady Indians were able to hold on for the 8-4 win and improve to 5-1 on the season. <br />They will resume action Saturday, hosting a round robin with Salem and New Athens. The first game is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
