Perry County well represented at Indoor State Track Meet

A number of Perry County athletes competed at the Illinois Indoor Top Times Meet (Indoor Track and Field State Championship) at Wesleyan University this weekend.<br />For the Du Quoin girls team, Tarynn Mays and Madison Davis both qualified for the indoor state meet. <br />Mays took first place in the triple jump with an impressive jump of 37 feet, finishing well ahead of Danielle Taets of Orion who finished second with a jump of 35-feet 8-inches. <br />Mays also competed in the 60 meter dash, where she took home a seventh-place finish. <br />Sophomore Davis competed competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing seventh with a time of 27.04. <br />She was the highest finishing sophomore in the field of 21 runners who qualified. <br />Qualifying for the boys were Caleb Vogel, Sam Zettler, Kyle Robinson, and Shamar Adams. <br />Senior Vogel high jumped 6'5" and finished 7th. Senior Zetter finished 12th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.06. Junior Kyle Robinson and sophomore Shamar Adams both qualified and competed in the 60 meter high hurdles. Robinson finished 10th with a time of 9.10 and and Adams finished 12th with a time of 9.19.<br />The Indians now gear up for the outdoor season, as the Lady Indians host a home meet Tuesday with Sesser-Valier and Pinckneyville. <br />On the Pinckneyville track team, Caleb Logan was the sole qualifier at the Indoor State meet.<br />Logan competed in the 60-meter dash, taking home a fifth-place finish.
